Course Description: This course focuses on the artistic aspects of blacksmithing. Included in this course are modern welding, jig making, and potentially other modern techniques used in fabrication shops that include blacksmithing. This is a repeatable course with a rotating curriculum. Each semester will focus on different aspects of the blacksmithing and iron-working industry. Projects change each semester but include learning and using the techniques of riveting, MIG and forge welding. Students must provide their own steel and basic tools for projects. A list of needed tools, steel stock, and suppliers will be discussed at the first class meeting.
