Course Description: Expand your artistic abilities and learn to draw. This fundamental course presents drawing through exploration and experimentation using a variety of drawing mediums and techniques. Draw directly from still-life subjects while working with pencil, charcoal, collage, brush and ink. Course Description: This blacksmithing course focuses on how to create larger projects and will have an introduction into forge welding. Students will learn advanced blacksmithing techniques used in today's metalworking market utilizing the tools and skills learned in the previous courses. Projects include making an anvil Hardy tool, hammer head, and Damascus billet. Students must provide their own steel and basic tools for projects. A list of needed tools, steel stock, and suppliers will be discussed at the first class meeting.

Course Description: This course focuses on the artistic aspects of blacksmithing. Using the tools and skills acquired in the previous blacksmithing courses, students will create specific projects related to modern ironworking and fabrication-related jobs. Included in this course are modern welding, jig making, and potentially other modern techniques used in fabrication shops that include blacksmithing. This is a repeatable course with a rotating curriculum. Each semester will focus on different aspects of the blacksmithing and iron-working industry. Projects change each semester but include learning and using the techniques of riveting, MIG and forge welding. Students must provide their own steel and basic tools for projects. A list of needed tools, steel stock, and suppliers will be discussed at the first class meeting.

We will cover more advanced techniques for making tools including jigs, bending fork, penny with fan scrolls, hot cut hardy, chasing chisel, three vise stakes, leafing hammer, Repousee leaf, and hammer heads. The skills learned in this class will help prepare students for working in metal-related jobs or other projects. Students must provide their own steel and basic tools for projects. You will learn both art and skill while utilizing old and new techniques to move heated metal into new and exciting shapes using a hammer and anvil. Making basic tools for your own use will be included in this class and include making a: flint striker, nail header, square punch, tongs, round punch, and a cut chisel. Course Description: Take this opportunity to explore the variety of drawing and oil painting techniques with color theory. Your art will develop, using traditional and non-traditional subject matter including still-life, landscape, figure and abstraction.
